The HKMM team aims to create learning experiences related to the maritime culture. (S.T.E.A.M.   is an abbreviation of S- Science, T- Technology,  E- Engineering, A- Arts, M- Mathematics)

Videos - Stories by Mr. Tam Kwong Lim

During the closure of the museum, social media campaign “An Object a Week” was launched in April 2020. Mr. Tam Kwong Lim led our audience on a virtual gallery walk, featuring 4 highlighted objects from the Canton Trade and Opium War.

Video - Online Virtual Reality Tour

In a recent collaboration with the Vocational Training Council (VTC), students have produced an 360-degrees interactive video featuring various exhibits at HKMM. This professionally edited video provides an immersive visiting experience during the closure of the museum. To navigate, use the arrow keys on your keyboard or pan around your mobile device.

Seeing in the dark: Hong Kong Harbour and Lighthouses

Funded by Maritime and Aviation Training Fund (MATF), Transport and Housing Bureau. Hong Kong Maritime Museum (HKMM) and Lighthouse Heritage Research and Connections Project (LHRC) of the City University of Hong Kong (CityU), co-organized the programme “Seeing in the Dark: Stories of Hong Kong Harbour and Lighthouse”. This online exhibition is part of the project, and it serves as long-term learning resources of Hong Kong’s lighthouse and its maritime history and development.

Education Bureau Programmes

Our Special Programme Resources offer exclusive learning materials and activities designed to enhance your understanding of maritime history and culture. These resources support our unique educational programs and special events, providing participants with a rich, wide-ranging multi-disciplinary learning experience. 

In collaboration with Education Bureau and Faculty of Humanities, and The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), we offer a comprehensive induction course for newly-joined history teachers, focusing on maritime history and its relevance to the curriculum.
