Dear Friends and Colleagues,

On behalf of the Hong Kong Maritime Museum and the China Maritime Museum, it is our great honour to extend a warm invitation to you to participate in the 2025 Forum for Asia-Pacific Maritime Culture, to be held this September in Hong Kong.

This year’s forum holds exceptional significance, as it coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Hong Kong Maritime Museum and the 15th anniversary of the China Maritime Museum. By collaborating to host this event, our two museums not only celebrate our shared history and achievements but also look ahead to a future of greater cooperation and innovation in maritime culture.

We are extremely grateful for the generous support of the International Congress of Maritime Museums (ICMM), and we are privileged to co-host the ICMM Asia-Pacific Regional Annual Meeting alongside the forum. This collaboration underscores the strong bonds within the global maritime museum community and provides an inclusive and dynamic platform for exchanging ideas and experiences.

The Forum will centre on globally significant topics, including the preservation of maritime cultural heritage, marine environmental protection and sustainable development, with a special focus on the Asia-Pacific region. The ocean, as the cradle of human civilisation, is also a crucial frontier for humanity’s future. Through this forum, we aim to build a bridge that connects Eastern and Western perspectives—fostering meaningful dialogue, encouraging collaboration, and exploring ways to preserve maritime heritage while injecting energy and hope into the future of our oceans.

To further enrich your experience, we have organised an optional two-day post-forum programme in Shanghai. This carefully curated itinerary combines cultural exploration with diverse professional exchange activities. We are confident that this opportunities will provide you with valuable insights and leave you with lasting memories.

We sincerely invite you to join us in this cultural forum and engage with distinguished experts, scholars, and cultural leaders from around the globe. Your participation will not only enhance the forum but will also contribute significantly to the advancement of maritime cultural exchange and development worldwide.

Let us gather this September in the vibrant cities of Hong Kong and Shanghai to celebrate this extraordinary intellectual and cultural event. We look forward to engaging with you, exchanging ideas, and working together to write a new chapter in the development of maritime culture.

Warm regards,
