Introduction
The 2025 Forum for Asia-Pacific Maritime Culture Forum, co-hosted by the Hong Kong Maritime Museum and the China Maritime Museum (Shanghai), will take place from September 22 to 25, 2025, in Hong Kong. Held in association with the International Congress of Maritime Museums Regional Meeting, this forum seeks to convene leading scholars, maritime professionals, and cultural experts from the Asia-Pacific region and around the globe. Together, participants will explore critical issues surrounding the protection of maritime cultural heritage and the promotion of sustainable practices for the marine environment.
Hong Kong, as a unique confluence of Eastern and Western cultures, offers an ideal setting for meaningful dialogue. The forum will delve into the preservation and transmission of maritime traditions, assess strategies for enhancing public awareness of marine conservation, and examine the evolving relationship between humanity and the maritime environment. It further aims to address the challenges and opportunities presented by global sustainable development.
With a focus on interdisciplinary collaboration, original research, and innovative solutions, the forum aspires to inspire new perspectives on the intersection of maritime culture and environmental sustainability. By fostering deeper understanding and global engagement, it aims to strengthen humanity’s collective commitment to the stewardship of our shared maritime heritage and environment.
